“I volunteer, because I think it is important to maintain a space where we can offer these vulnerable women no security presence and care that they do not experience as traded on the street. My effort as a volunteer may not have far-reaching and measurable results, but maybe there’s a woman or two who goes home from the street Wednesday night with an experience of being seen and respected as a woman of infinite value – and that’s enough for me.”
“I am volunteering at Night Light Café, as there is a strong community and commitment, relevant lectures for us volunteers and, not least, I want to contribute to the fight against human trafficking.”
“I’m volunteering, as it’s great to join a community where you are together to offer help, care and safe surroundings for a large group of women who have a rough life and need a free space to relax and share out of their stories and dreams”.
“I volunteer because I think it’s really important and meaningful to spend a night once in a while to tell the Nigerian women that they are valuable, and on opportunities to realize their dreams.”
“I am a volunteer at Night Light Café, because we can help the women get the sense of value. That they have worth as a person and as a woman, and that is the opportunity to live a different life than they do now.”
“I think it is important that there is a breath of cavity for the women on the street. We give them a place to get into some warmth, kindness and understanding. We are many different volunteers, of different ages and with different academic backgrounds. We agree to be here for the women and we see them as the women they are: Like us, with future dreams and societal potential.”
“I am pleased to be able, together with the other volunteers, to provide a compassionate and respectful respite for the Nigerian women who travel on Istedgade at night.”
“I am volunteering at Night Light Café in order to give something back to those women who do not have the same opportunities and freedoms that I grew up with here in Denmark.”
