As part of the teaching team, I help to improve young people's knowledge about human trafficking and perhaps inspire them to organize. As is the case in most areas of life, learning and knowledge are prerequisites for developing relevant skills. The global scale of human trafficking makes it an important topic. That is why we prepare young people to face the world we live in. I have a background in philosophy and law at the University of Copenhagen. Both of these professional skills come into play when we convey knowledge about human trafficking.

Ida Pahus has more than seven years of experience working against human trafficking and with vulnerable people. She has, among other things, worked with anti-trafficking in both Denmark and Moldova, was a project manager in the anti-trafficking organization A21 and is now involved in EXIST's work to teach Danish schools about human trafficking and EXIST's efforts. She is part of the work of EXIST's teaching group because she is passionate about making people aware of the reality of human trafficking and knows firsthand the enormous importance it can have to be able to spot signs of human trafficking and be ready to take action when these signs are experienced and victims are discovered.

I have chosen to join the EXIST teaching team because I believe it is crucial to raise awareness about human trafficking among young people; they are the ones who will be at the forefront of shaping our society into a more just place. The goal is to shed light on the complexity of the topic – which often remains invisible – and inspire collective action!

I volunteer on the teaching team because I am passionate about communicating important topics. I study journalism and social sciences on a daily basis, and as part of the team I get the opportunity to use my skills in practice, while constantly learning something new. I hope that our teaching can make more young people more knowledgeable about human trafficking, because it is still a topic that many people know very little about. Through the teaching, I want to help create greater awareness, understanding and commitment.

I am part of EXIST's teaching team because I want to inspire others to get involved in the fight against human trafficking, just as my volunteer work at Night Light Café has inspired me to help and work for the rights of people who have been subjected to human trafficking for sexual exploitation. Through our teaching, we want to teach the next generation to recognize the signs of human trafficking, understand where our current social systems fall short, and feel motivated to make a difference themselves. I hope that we can create more space for knowledge about and awareness of human trafficking, as it is a topic that often goes under the radar. Many are unaware of the enormous and growing scale of the problem.
