Use your skills in the fight against human trafficking

That's why I volunteer in EXIST

"My involvement in EXIST started in connection with an internship for the Disaster and Risk Manager training. Right from the start, it was clear how big a problem human trafficking is, and what extensive work EXIST does to educate and prevent this. The case was far too important to leave, and that is why I volunteer in EXIST.".

"I started at EXIST as an intern, where I became part of a meaningful community almost 5 years ago. I have since been a volunteer in the communications team, where I am partly responsible for LinkedIn. I chose this because being part of something bigger and helping to focus on the prevention and fight against human trafficking creates meaning for me.".

"I decided to volunteer after researching and learning about the rapidly growing global problem of human trafficking. The night café provides a great opportunity to connect with others and talk to them about these issues, which helps generate ideas and a space for advocacy for victims.".

Night Light Café brings people together

Night Light Café was established to meet foreign women in prostitution, and to meet them with dignity and charity. The women who use the night café are mainly from Nigeria. Several of them have lived in Italy or Spain. Some stay in Denmark for a longer period of time, others are here for only a few weeks or months.

In the night café, women can come in and get a break from working on the streets, have a chat and a game and enjoy refreshments. It is our goal to meet the women at eye level with openness and respect for their culture and faith. At the same time, we will support those women who want to find a different path in life. For example, we can offer them to live in a safehouse* and offer them rehabilitation and job opportunities in Nigeria, with the idea that the individual woman can become self-sufficient and reintegrate into family and society in Nigeria.

*A safehouse is a safe home for women who have chosen to leave a life of prostitution behind.
