In early February, EXIST's CEO, Karin Kjærgaard, and board member, Mayada Mohamedani, went on a monitoring trip to Abuja, Nigeria. During the trip, they visited Daughters of Abraham, The Sarina Project, and Greater Love Lighthouse. 

Mayada Mohamedani tells about the trip:

“I am very grateful for the opportunity as a board member to participate in a monitoring trip to Abuja, Nigeria. The trip has been important in many ways, including in terms of strengthening EXIST's collaboration with our primary collaboration partner MeCAHT (Media Coalition and Awareness to Halt Human Trafficking. 

What has made the biggest impression on me has been meeting the Nigerian women who are victims of human trafficking. I had the pleasure of visiting three different safehouses, Daughters of Abraham, The Sarina Project and Greater Love Lighthouse, where I gained insight into the women's everyday lives and how the staff work to support them in their unique ways.

Working across national borders and cultures is both challenging and meaningful, which is why it made a strong impression on me to see the interaction between local and international cooperation unfold in practice.

Overall, the trip has confirmed the importance of our joint work, and given me even more motivation to continue the effort.”
